Sawvy Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 28, 2026

Sawvy (“Sawvy,” “we,” “us”) is a woodworking design and build app operated by Forging Tomorrow. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email privacy@forgingtomorrow.com.

The short version

  • You can use Sawvy without an account. An account (just an email and password) only exists so your saved builds sync across devices.
  • When you describe a build in your own words, that text is sent to our AI provider to turn it into a design. Don’t include personal or sensitive information in those descriptions.
  • When you tap a “Shop” / “View on [retailer]” link, you leave Sawvy for that retailer’s site, and we may earn a commission. We never see your payment details.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t show third-party ads.

Information we collect

Account information (optional). If you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and stored in hashed form — we never see or store your plaintext password.

Content you create. The projects you design and save — furniture type, style, dimensions, wood species, tool selections, and shopping lists. If you’re signed in, these sync to your account; if you’re not, they stay on your device.

Build descriptions you type. When you use the “Describe your build” feature, the text you enter (and the back-and-forth of that conversation within a session) is sent to our backend and on to our AI provider to interpret your request. Please don’t enter personal, financial, or otherwise sensitive details there.

On-device preferences. Settings like your experience level, onboarding status, owned tools, theme, and cart are stored locally on your device.

Shopping interactions. When you tap an affiliate shopping link, that action may be associated with a non-personal tag (identifying the tool, tier, and project) so our affiliate networks can attribute any resulting purchase to Sawvy.

Beta diagnostics. While Sawvy is distributed through Apple TestFlight, Apple may collect crash logs and basic usage diagnostics under Apple’s own terms.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or camera data. (If we add photo or LiDAR features in the future, we’ll update this policy first.)

How we use information

  • To provide the app’s core features — designing projects, generating cut lists, build steps, tool recommendations, and saving your work.
  • To interpret your typed build descriptions into a design.
  • To sync your saved builds to your account, if you have one.
  • To attribute affiliate purchases so the app can remain free.
  • To maintain security, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.

How information is shared

We share information only with the service providers needed to run the app:

  • Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and storage (your account email and saved builds).
  • Anthropic (Claude) — processes your typed build descriptions to generate a design. Text is sent for that purpose and is not used to identify you.
  • Retailers and affiliate networks (e.g., Amazon Associates, Impact, and the retailers themselves such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Rockler) — when you follow a shopping link. Your activity on their sites is governed by their privacy policies.
  • Apple — for app distribution and, during beta, TestFlight diagnostics.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or us.

Affiliate links

Sawvy is free, funded by affiliate commissions. When you tap a shopping link, you are taken to a third-party retailer, and we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Prices are set by the retailers. We never receive your payment information — your purchase is handled entirely by the retailer under its own terms and privacy policy.

Data retention

We keep your account information and saved builds until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. On-device data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Build descriptions sent to our AI provider are retained only as needed to provide and improve the feature, subject to that provider’s data-retention terms.

Your choices and rights

  • Use without an account. Most of Sawvy works without signing in.
  • Access and correction. Email us to access or correct your account information.
  • Deletion. You can delete your entire account and all associated data right in the app — Account → Delete account → confirm. It’s permanent and takes effect immediately. You can also delete individual saved builds in the app, or email privacy@forgingtomorrow.com if you’d rather we handle it.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, deletion, or portability) under laws like the GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise them.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and database access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.

Children’s privacy

Sawvy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Where your information is processed

Sawvy’s providers process data in the United States. If you use the app from outside the U.S., you understand your information may be processed there.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
